I am a big Diane Chamberlain fan so it is not surprising that I found Brass Ring to be very interesting! The plot involves two estranged adult sisters and their differing memories of their childhood. Both reveal some psycological problems that become worse as a crisis arrises in their lives. One remembers her childhood as being blissful and the other hated her childhood. This story brings wonderful character development of both women, their love ones, their lives as successful adults, and their bonding over a crisis that brings them together. If you like good characters and a wonderfully complex storyline, I think you will love this book too.Product details

Could not quit reading this terrific book. Very well written. quite upsetting but so true it to life. I have. I have personal experience with this kind of violation and know the devastation it causes. The characters are terrific
Jon is my favorite. Every emotion came flying into my life, so sorry I have finished this marvelous book will look for another from this author.
Sorry, I could not feel any sympathy for the character Claire. Her betrayal of her husband was unforgivable, and in fact, she never did ask for his forgiveness. The character of Randy was equally unlikeable as he took advantage of a clearly unstable situation. And to write him as a good guy was ridiculous. Overall, wish Claire had just died on the bridge with Margot and spared us this story.
This was a very interesting and thought provoking book- it briught to light the damage that can be done to people, especially children and the long term consequences- i would like to request that you use extreme expressions other than the Lord's name....there are many other words that can express extreme situations....thank you
Another great story that is hard to put down.
This book was incredibly difficult to read. It kept you on your toes with its raw emotion and seemingly endless tease of details. By the end, you feel as though you are Claire as she draws out her memories painstakingly. Beautiful, poignant, and an important read. People are not always what they seem and the past is not always best forgotten.
I love Diane Chamberlain books. This one is slow and boring and weird. The characters were strange. The pace was slow. The internal struggles of the characters were redundant. The outcome was predictable.
As a side note, I've ridden at least a dozen different carousels in my lifetime and have never heard of "reaching for the brass ring." I had to google it. The practice stopped around 1921. But, according to Wikipedia, there are still some operating carousels that have brass ring dispensers. Who knew?
I loved this book. I loved everything about it; the characters, the flow, the story; and everything in between. I would say that this is my favorite Diane Chamberlain book, but I have a few more to read. The controversial topic of suppressed memories was well covered. The development of the disabled Jon and what he was able to accomplish was inspiring.I just can't say enough about this story. It was tragic, it was heartfelt, happy and sad. I liked the way it covered relationships between husband and wife, mothers and daughters, lovers, friendships and siblings.
